Vandaveer! 7-inch on S&D, Daytrotter!

Thursday, April 2nd, 2009

S&D is proud to announce the release of a new 7-inch from Washington DC’s Vandaveer! Vandaveer is the solo project of Mark Charles Heidinger, former frontman of The Apparitions and sometimes member of These United States. The 7-inch features two tracks, “Turpentine” and “Woolgathering”, which are both from “Divide & Conquer”, Vandaveer’s 2nd album, to be released later this year.

As luck would have it, Daytrotter posted their session with Vandaveer today, which features a stripped down version of “Turpentine” with Mark’s lovely sometimes-harmonizer/always-sister Rose. Check out the session by clicking here!

While we work to get an artist page up for Vandaveer, you can learn more about him (and listen to some more songs) by visiting his Myspace page, or check out his upcoming European tour dates. There will be an east coast/midwest tour for the 7-inch this May! Stay tuned for that, and for 7-inch purchasing info. We just approved the test pressings, so we expect to have finished copies in the next few weeks.

Dark Dark Dark featured on Daytrotter! More US tour dates announced!!

“Nona Marie Invie and Marshall LaCourt’s vocals are as compatible as lovers and give all of their image-heavy words of stark atmospheric recognizance enough illumination to have no understanding of true dark. They’re mesmerizing in the way they work human frailty and susceptibility into the foggy membranes of the songs, spraying them with flurries and the winds that make you feel naked. They’re mesmerizing in the way that the cold feel pleasurable naked.”

Please read the rest of the article and download the songs from the session (including the unreleased “Flood”, perhaps my favorite song they’ve ever done) at http://daytrotter.com/article/1622/dark-dark-dark .

Dark Dark Dark on RCRD LBL!

Friday, December 12th, 2008

You can download “Trouble No More” and “Junk Bones” by going here:

http://www.rcrdlbl.com/2008/12/12/exclusive_new_download_dark_dark_dark_junk_bones_trouble_no_more

Here’s what RCRD LBL has to say about Dark Dark Dark:

“Well, it’s official.  Dark Dark Dark have created the prettiest and jauntiest tune about hangings I’ve ever heard.  And then they went and provided the cello, banjo and accordion answer to “Rehab,” with Nona
Marie Invie moaning, “I gave up on whiskey and beer and am I happier? No.”  The Snow Magic, Dark Dark Dark’s first full length was recorded one Minnesota winter and is full of warmth, heart-break, ghost
stories, regret, loss and beauty.  Sounding old timey while still totally modern, Dark Dark Dark have won me over and are currently on a tour through the end of December to hit you with their best shot.  Check the dates, grab the tunes and get ready for goosebumps.”
